TL Sports has extensive experience in event strategic and operational planning at a local, regional, state, national and international level.

The team brings to the project many years of expertise and knowledge gained from working within the government and events sector. This hands-on experience includes directly developing and implementing event attraction strategies, bidding for events, developing new events and managing events.

Key Staff

Michael Hands
Michael is the Managing Director of TL Sports and the Race Director of the Jayco Herald Sun Tour. Prior to establishing TL Sports, Michael had a senior executive role with the Victorian Major Events Company as Strategic Manager where he was involved in developing strategic plans for Victoria's event acquisition, regeneration and management policy.

Michael was also involved in the acquisition of a range of major events for Victoria, including Road Cycling World Championships (for the first time ever in the southern hemisphere), Track Cycling World Championships, Lifesaving World Championships, Swimming World Championships, Triathlon World Cup, Women’s Cycling World Cup, Gymnastics World Championships, Volvo Ocean Race, Dancesport World Championships and more.

Karin Jones
Karin has been the General Manager at TL Sports since joining the company in 2005 and is the Logistics Manager for all events in the stable. Karin has an extensive background in the delivery of events in the sporting industry, specifically working in the logistic areas of each event.

Karin has had a significant role in staging the International Six Days Enduro and Jayco Bay Cycling classic and was the Road Events Manager for the World Masters Games and the Assistant Manager for Road Cycling at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games.

Liz Taylor
Liz competed internationally as a professional road cyclist from 1994 -2002. She has competed in events such as the Commonwealth Games and World Championships and achieved a silver medal at the 1997 World Championships.

In 2004 Liz completed a Commerce degree and started working in the Finance and Accounting area.  She is also currently completing her CPA qualifications.  Liz has worked with event organisations since 2005 working on the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games and is currently with TL Sports as the Business Manager.

Kishore Cunningham
Kishore has been involved in road running event management since 1978 and in 1980 was appointed State Fun Run Coordinator by SRV to develop recreational running policy.

During the ‘80s and early ‘90s Kishore was coordinator of Sri Chinmoy runs and triathlons in Victoria. More recently he has been marketing manager with Australian and World Masters Games, Melbourne Marathon and the Nike Women’s Series.

Kishore is currently the Event Operations Manager of the Herald Sun/CityLink Run for the Kids.

Paula Ewing

Paula has worked in the sporting industry since 1995 graduating from Canberra University with a degree in Sports Journalism. Paula transitioned into event operations in 1997 and has been working specifically on road-based events since 1999 including the Sydney 2000 Olympics Road Cycling and all road events at the 2002 Manchester and 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games.

Paula has been with TL Sports since 2006 and is the Event Operations Manager of the Jayco Herald Sun Tour; Australia’s oldest cycling stage race.

Chris Ball
Chris commenced with TL Sports in 2007 as a volunteer in order to gain first-hand industry experience to assist him in his Sports Management degree which he recently completed at Ballarat University. Chris has been invaluable in his contributions to the events managed by TL Sports.

Chris has been working full time with the company since December 2008 and is the Tour Village and Bike Expo manager for the Jayco Herald Sun Tour, and event manager of Cyclismo Bendigo.
