Cycling is a way of life in Wangaratta and surrounds, with amazing road, mountain and recreational riding tracks through the region.
Wangaratta is the launching point for many who tackle the Murray to Mountains Rails Trail, heading to the Milawa Gourmet Region, Beechworth, Bright and beyond.
Some of Australia’s best cool climate wines are grown and made in the Ovens and King valleys, with names like Brown Brothers, Dal Zotto, Chrismont, Sam Miranda and Pizzini making the region iconic.
Gourmet Food is also in abundance with restaurants including Rinaldo’s Casa Cucina and King River Café, and award winning cheese and bread at Milawa Cheese Factory.
Don’t forget Ned either. Wangaratta is in the heart of Kelly country. The home of the siege site, Glenrowan, is just south of Wangaratta and the region is rich with historic bushranger sites, like Power’s Lookout in the King Valley.
