Arguably one of the country’s best domestic teams, it’s fantastic to see the squad lining up again for the 2020 edition of the Jayco Herald Sun Tour this February.

Founded in 2011, the team has risen up through the National Road Series ranks to develop some of the best current and emerging talent.

Five year member of the team, Kate Perry is known to push the pace on the front and make it a tough day out for everyone, sometimes resulting in her heading off on a solo race of her own. With a great climbing ability, she’ll be there with the best and is a chance for a podium.

An exciting addition to their line up for this year’s Jayco Herald Sun Tour is a rider better known for her prowess on the mountain bike, Holly Harris. The 24-year-old is the current Australian XC Marathon MTB  Champion, making her a very strong climber and she will be able to animate the bunch on the mountainous final stage, which features 1500 metres of climbing over a punchy 75km course.

Team media spokesperson Melita Van Steel echoed this sentiment. And is looking forward to again being part of the Tour, now in its third year. “With the change of scenery and heading to the Victorian alpine region, we are excited for the typical fast racing you can expect during the Australian summer. Stage 1 around Shepparton is going to be flat and fast, but it will be stage 2 on Falls Creek which will make for an interesting and exciting day.”

She added, “2020 is set to be a big year for everyone. We’d like to continue the success we had last year and build on that. We also have a couple of new faces that have joined us, so we are excited for them to get a taste of racing with the team and see what success we can achieve.”

Being an Australian based team, they will have a leg up on their European counterparts, as the intense February heat always favours the riders who train, race and ride in it every day. The mercury in February routinely sit around the 40 degree mark, so we won’t be surprised to see one or two riders using this to their advantage and break away.
