Benalla Riders MND Community Ride

6.:30am-9:15am

2 community ride options will start and finish at the Jayco Herald-Sun Tour Village giving riders the opportunity to witness the life of a professional rider as they prepare for Stage 3 of the Jayco Herald-Sun Tour. Professional riders will be on display as they warm up in the team compound. World Class riders on display include Chris Froome, Esteban Chaves and Simon Gerrans before their 10.30am departure.

The cost for the ride is $25, with all proceeds going to Benalla’a Act to D-FEET Motor Neurone Disease fundraising campaign. In it’s 10th year the Benalla campaign is within reach of its $500,000 target.

Experienced Riders
48km ride with the Voice of Cycling Phil Liggett and Local Cycling Hero Baden Cooke
Start at 7:15am, briefing at 7am, Collection or race bands 6:30-6:50am

Community Riders
A more leisurely 20km ride with Benalla’s Felicity Wardlaw
Start at 7:30am, briefing at 7:20am, collection of race bands 6:50am – 7:10am

Riders will also receive free entry to the Benalla MND Ride on Sunday 26 February, and a free t-shirt.

Be entertained as FCJ College students perform to welcome back the riders from the participant ride.

Life Cycle 55+

Life Cycle 55+ is a cycling program designed for people aged 55 or over who want to get on their bikes and ride.

Whether you’re a novice or an experienced rider, the program will have something for you. Above all, members of Life Cycle 55+ will be part of a like minded community.

The ride leaves from Mitchelton Winery and breaks at Nagambie. The ride will then continue towards Tahbilk Winery, before returning to Mitchelton Wines to see the finish of stage 3 of the Jayco Herald Sun Tour. All riders will be welcomed into the Life Cycle + VIP area where there will be refreshments available to enjoy while watching the finish

This ride will take place on open roads, and will be led by our Life Cycle 55+ Ride Leaders.  The total ride length is approximately 32km consisting primarily of sealed road

Road Closures

The Jayco Herald Sun Tour aims to minimise the impact on local communities.  However, some road closures will apply. Residents and business directly impacted by the road closures will receive written notification prior to the event

Rolling Road Closures

The Jayco Herald Sun Tour operates under a rolling road closure implemented by Victoria Police.  As the race travels along the course the roads will be temporarily closed for the race to pass through safely.

Motorists will be stopped by Victoria Police and asked to pull over to the side of the road until the race passes.  Delays of up to 15 minutes may be experienced.
