Course Overview
Start/Finish: Falls Creek Village, Bogong High Plains Rd, Falls Creek
Distance: 75.2 kilometres
The second and final stage of the Lexus of Blackburn Women’s Herald Sun Tour will begin with a technical and long 30km descent of Falls Creek before the race turns around and begins to climb back up to the summit of the Victorian ski resort.
Despite being on the way down, there are a number of tricky uphill pinches throughout, including the first QOM point of the stage.
A flat loop out through Tawonga and along the Kiewa River will give riders the chance to regroup, or let a breakaway group form ahead of the push uphill.
The race will be on for overall Tour honours and the 30 kilometre climb at 3.9% average gradient and 1160m of elevation, will show who is the strongest of them all.

The Word from the Race Director – John Trevorrow

“A mountain top finish to one of Victoria’s premier ski resorts to conclude the tour and decide the overall winner. This is a stage that should be dominated by the world class climbers in the field. But first the riders will need to negotiate nearly 30 kilometres of tricky descending and that could create a very different scenario. Often the best climbers are not the best descenders so there is a strong possibility that a group will get clear and open up a sizeable gap before the final climb begins.
Falls Creek is not the steepest mountain in the Alpine region but at around 30km of climbing it is definitely one of the most challenging. It will undoubtedly provide a brilliant fight for the title and will be worth travelling a long way to see.”
