Japanese registered UCI Continental Team, Kinan Cycling Team are all set to make their inaugural appearance on Australian soil. 

After a string of general classification wins at UCI 2.1 level over the last two years, Kinan Cycling Team’s DS, Tetsuya Ishida is keen to make a splash at the 2020 edition of Australia’s oldest stage race. 

“We are starting our season at the New Zealand Cycling Classic, so it is a great honor to take on the prestigious Jayco Herald Sun Tour shortly after.” said Ishida

They added, “We believe that gaining experience in this race will be a good stepping stone for developing our young riders, and we feel it is an important stage for us to step up to as we are aiming to be competitive across Asia in 2020”

Frenchman and seasoned team rider, Thomas Lebas has had a number of GC wins, however the standout in 2019 was claiming the overall general classification and the polka dot climber’s jersey at the Tour of Indonesia. 

With his competitive drive, team support and climbing legs, he will be very well suited to the mountainous stages of the Jayco Herald Sun Tour and will be able to mix it up with the WorldTour pros. 

Marcos Garcia, who took out the inaugural Tour of Peninsular in Malaysia last year, will be keen to make his presence felt amongst the peloton. The ToP is similar to our race in that it’s a five-stage race, taking in some of the best features of the countryside. Garcia’s convincing win of 03mins02sec on GC, makes him another arrow in the quiver of Kinan Cycling Team and will be looking to get results on mountain stages of two, three and four of the Jayco Herald Sun Tour. 

2018 Japanese national road champion, Genki Yamamoto will sure to keep the team in order and will be able to keep a cool head under pressure.
